A large property located on the slopes of Mauna Kea overlooking the west (Kona) coast of the island of Hawaii. Elevation at the ranch is 3,000 feet (914 meters).
Formerly a working ranch, the Mauna Kea Ranch is over 7,300 acres in area, featuring incredible diversity of grasslands, lava fields, cloud forest, water features, fenced pastureland, a large ranch house, and a number of smaller dwellings.
Located on the sunny side of the island, weather is very stable, with an average of 10 hours of direct light per day, year-round. All locations on the ranch feature easy vehicle access, and parking for over 200 cars & trucks.
Located only 30 minutes from the luxury resorts of Waikoloa , Mauna Kea is extremely private, with no nearby neighbors. Because the ranch is not in use, permitted filming can occur on a 24 hour basis. Entire property is fenced, perimeters and access are easy to control.
The main ranch house is a two story Cape Cod home built in 1962. Featuring full utilities and large rooms. The house is ideal for staging or as a location itself. Adjacent to the ranch house are four smaller dwellings which can be used for builds, storage, staging, etc.
Other stand out locations on the property include a “cloud forest” of over 350 acres. A site of tall trees, ferns and native plants. The site has an ethereal feel due to the low clouds which hang over the location. Over 150 acres of grassy pastureland. Featuring rolling hills, tall trees and vistas. 200 acres of land surrounding a volcanic cinder cone with a large pond in the center. 500 acres of raw lava fields showcasing jagged rocks, spires, gullies and cinder paths.
Mauna Kea Ranch is available for short and long-term rental.
